What is Coaching?
Coaching
is a partnership that magnifies your ability to create and sustain
fulfillment in your personal and professional life, and go beyond where
you might normally stop. Coaching concentrates on where you are today
and what you are willing to do to get where you want to be tomorrow. As
the client, in each meeting you choose the focus of the conversation.
As I listen, I will ask questions, contribute observations, and support
you in designing actions. Our conversations will accelerate your
progress by providing clarity and greater focus, expanding your
awareness of choice, and challenging and supporting you to move into
action.
The
coaching conversation rests on the belief that you are naturally whole,
creative and resourceful. Through empowering and expanding who you are
at the core, your Essence (Authentic Self), coaching assists you in
tapping into your inner wisdom to consciously create a life that
springs forth from your integrity and most deeply held values.
Why Coaching Works
Successful coaching requires two things:
- You are willing to grow and take action
- There is a gap between where you are now and where you want to be
Coaching works for four primary reasons:
Structure:
Our regular coaching conversations will result in expanding your
learning, your clarity, and your options. You will leave each call with
a clear action plan of the next steps to take. Email support or quick
phone calls are available between sessions to support you in moving
forward and to celebrate your evolution. The progress checkpoints that
are fundamental to coaching, lend extra accountability and keep you
moving forward toward goal achievement.
Expertise:
I have extensive knowledge around the topics I coach, derived from both
education and real life experience. I also offer many skills, tools,
concepts, and structure to assist you in setting goals, making
decisions, and taking action in alignment with your values, your
integrity, and who you are at the core.
Often
friends, family members and colleagues are willing to lend support.
While it is wonderful to have that connection, it frequently comes with
bias of what your life should look like. It may even come with hidden
agendas. As your coach and partner I come to you without bias and with
the understanding that ultimately you know what is best for you and
your life. I honor your choices.
Synergy:
You and I become a team and the results produced will be greater than
what you can produce on your own. As human beings we all have
blind-spots about ourselves; things we don’t see about our own ways of
thinking, our beliefs, and our behaviors. I am skilled at identifying
blind-spots and supporting you in considering a more expansive view of
yourself. In addition, the power of two minds focused on one goal
offers greater possibilities and options than doing it alone. You bring
your expertise and vision to the call; I bring my expertise and vision.
Together we create a powerful partnership to get you the results you
are looking for. As your coach, I am completely committed to your
success.
Body-Mind Approach: I
take a Body-Mind approach to my coaching. This means that your whole
self is included in the process; your intellect, emotions, body, and
spirit. Why? While your mind (intellect) is a magnificent and essential
part of you, it does NOT have all the answers. Your intuition,
emotions, body sensations, and Spirit have much to say and great value
to add; value that cannot be elicited from the intellectual mind.
Guiding Principles
The Power of Essence: The
core of you is pure Essence, your Authentic Self, which is Divine in
nature and an endless well of natural goodness. Innately whole and
resourceful, you have everything within you (creativity, talent, unique
genius, wisdom, and love) to create the life you imagine and beyond. It
is the recognition and empowerment of Essence that ultimately produces
joy and happiness.
Your Beliefs Create Your Reality: Beliefs
are the template through which you see the world and through which you
make your decisions. Your beliefs may have made sense and worked for
you at the time they were formed, and it is quite possible they are not
working for you now. Much discomfort and self-imposed limitation
springs from your beliefs. Challenging your beliefs is likely to be
essential to creating the life you want. When you change your beliefs,
you change your world.
100% Responsibility is the Key:
To live a life in which you feel in control and on purpose requires
stepping into 100% responsibility for your thoughts, feelings, and
behaviors. Less than that puts you at the effect of outside influences
(people and circumstances) where you surrender your power and your
happiness. Responsibility is the key to true freedom and being in
control of your life.
Love is the Greatest Power: In
most of our world cultures, power is thought to be derived from control
and force. It is easy to see how this contracted model does not
facilitate harmonious relationships or peace. An expansive and
enlightened approach calls on the gentle, yet powerful energy of love
to create connection, collaboration, cooperation, and intimacy. This is
true in all relationships (between people and between nations). The
ultimate relationship is with your self. Acquiring possessions and
relationships (while satisfying on some level) will not replace the
peace, clarity, and integrity that are a natural bi-product of loving
yourself.
Emotions are Your Natural Birthright:
Emotions are a rich tapestry through which you experience life.
Learning to embrace your feelings and use them in an emotionally
intelligent way will produce a vital, satisfying life. Failure to honor
emotions leads to a slow steady erosion of the spirit resulting in a
loss of vitality and connection with yourself and all of life.
Commitment to Yourself is Essential: Being
100% committed to yourself will go a long way to supporting you in
stepping into the life that you imagine. Key to your success is also
being willing to uncover and shift your unconscious commitments, the
commitments that are playing in the background and controlling your
life. While many external barriers can stand in the way of you getting
what you want, the most prominent barrier likely in the way is you;
your thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors.
Appreciation Opens the Doors to Manifestation: Often
we get hung up in what we don’t have at the expense of appreciating
what we do have. Expressing appreciation frequently for all that you
are, all that you have, all that you experience, and all of your
important relationships, provides a fertile ground to step into more of
what you want. Plus the expansive energy of expressing and experiencing
appreciation just feels good! The opposite of appreciation is the
contracted energy of entitlement, where you simply take things for
granted and shut down the flow of attraction.
Spiritual Centeredness Invites Partnership: Spirituality
is a huge topic and there are many ways of believing. Central to living
a life of deep meaning and happiness is the belief that there is
something larger than you out there. If you are the end-all be-all
authority in your world, then you are missing a great partnership with
the Divine, the omnipresent energy force sometimes called God (also
known by many other names). This force is more than willing to be your
partner and support you in easily manifesting a richly abundant life
heavily laced with peace and joy.
